These are things one should consider before accepting "ghosts" or "spirits" as the actual appearances of individuals who have died. NOTE: Everything a supernatural spirit does, it does in an effort to "disprove" or call into question that which is taught by the Word of God. (The Bible) It is their intention to deceive and to destroy. Their ultimate end is to discourage one from possessing faith in God and a genuine confidence in His Word.Some of the thoughts below are just common sense and based upon clear and reasonable logic. We are not here refuting the existence of such manifestations, but rather their true identity.

1. Why do "ghosts"(human spirits) wear clothing, jewelry, shoes, etc? Do these items also have a spirit or energy that travel with us into the spirit world? Why do spirits often appear with props, tackle, animals, and other items which help to identify them as being from a certain era, period, time, or experience (ex., WW2, Civil War, etc.)

The Bible says:

"And said , Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave , and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." Job 1:21 KJV

"For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." 1 Timothy 6:7 KJV

The truth is:

Spirits (demons) appear in full wardrobe so as to represent someone from a specific time period or era. Without the clothing, it would be nearly impossible to represent themselves as anyone in particular as "clothing makes the man." Just like putting on a play, props and wardrobe are essential to the character being portrayed. Many people claim to hear noises which are directly associated with certain types of shoes (footsteps, walking, dragging, etc); but how is this possible? Do shoes also have a spiritual existence? Why would a human spirit run around in work related costumes, uniforms, or gear? They weren't buried with those articles. You will notice that psychics and mediums often refer to what they claim a spirit is wearing in an effort to help identify or qualify the spirit they claim to be seeing. But they often describe an outfit or uniform that the deceased was not buried with. How do they attain such a wardrobe in the afterlife?

2. How can a spirit inflict physical damage or injury to anyone in the natural world?

The Bible says:

"Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see ; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have." (Jesus Christ is here speaking to His disciples after His resurrection from the dead.) Luke 24:39 KJV

The truth is:

Many people report having been bitten or scratched by spiritual entities. They also claim to hear noises that are directly associated with a natural (flesh and blood) existence, such as; sneezing, crying, moaning, screaming, etc... A spirit would not have flesh or BONE. How then is it possible to inflict bites or scratches? Why would a spirit, who cannot be sick or ill, cough, sneeze, etc? A demonic spirit is an entity with a very real physical presence (although it is not physical in our natural sense of the word. When a demonic spirit is present, people can often feel their presence as they do genuinely have a physical presence, albeit it is more like invisible steam or the wind. They do affect their environment in some way, however small.

3. How can spirits engage in sexual, lewd, or intimate conduct?

The Bible says:

"For in the resurrection they neither marry , nor are given in marriage , but are as the angels of God in heaven." Matthew 22:30 KJV

"For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry , nor are given in marriage ; but are as the angels which are in heaven." Mark 12:25 KJV

The truth is:

A human spirit would have no interest in sexuality or intimacy. They certainly would not carry over their violent sexual history into the spirit realm. And even if they did, they would not be able to engage in any kind of sexual activity after death. Demon spirits will engage in sexual or lewd conduct at times. This is a form of abuse and manipulation, based in violence. Such spiritual conduct should NEVER be tolerated, permitted, or welcomed.

4. Why would a spirit eat or drink, when neither activity is necessary for survival in a spiritual state of existence?

The Bible says:

"33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together , and them that were with them, 34 Saying , The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. 35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread. 36 And as they thus spake , Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted , and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled ? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see ; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have . 40 And when he had thus spoken , he shewed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered , he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb . 43 And he took it, and did eat before them." Luke 23:33-42

The truth is:

As evidence of His actual, physical, bodily resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ ate food in front of His disciples, WHO FEARFULLY THOUGHT THAT WERE SEEING A GHOST. A human spirit would have no need of food or water. Any manifestation that would suggest such activities as eating or drinking should immediately be interpreted as suspicious and unwelcome. People who say, "Well, Oreo cookies were my grandmother's favorite food." only open the door to demonic activity by validating the spirit's assumed identity as "grandma" because of the "evidence" of this food being eaten or disappearing.

5. How can a spirit emit noises, sounds, smells, or voices? If one does not possess a physical body, how then is it possible to emit sounds which require physical organs to produce, such as a voice box?

The truth is:

Spirits would not wear perform, generate sweat or body odors (including expelling gas), etc. A spirit does not require food or water. Why in the world would a spirit generate or emit smells or sensations which are directly associated with physical bodily functions? Again, such manifestations are only used to help a spirit impersonate or appear to be a specific individual who is generally associated with such smells or sensations? Even demons will generally speak through a physical host. A human spirit would have no physical means whereby to produce vocalizations.

6. Why would a human spirit seek to scare or inspire fear in an individual to whom they are manifesting themselves? Does God use such human spirits to communicate His messages or to serve His purposes?

The Bible Says:

"10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense. 11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. 13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John." Luke 1:10-13

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

The truth is:

Whenever a spiritual entity (angel) is acting on God's behalf, the first words they speak will be "Do not be afraid...," "Fear Not...," "Do not fear..." or, there will be no sense of fear or terror.

7. Do human spirits remain in familiar relationships with the living after they have died?

The Bible Says:

"23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, 24 Saying , Master, Moses said , If a man die , having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife , deceased , and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: 26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. 27 And last of all the woman died also. 28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err , not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry , nor are given in marriage , but are as the angels of God in heaven." Matthew 22:23-30

The truth is:

No. Marriage bonds and familiar relationships are dissolved upon one's death. Nothing that ties us to this natural, flesh and blood world remains. We are free of all cares and worries. This includes being released from any sense of duty or obligation to our yet living loved ones. We will

be known in eternity as we were known on earth, but the family relationships are ended as we all stand before God alone as His child, and part of the body of Christ, no longer a part of any other family or relationships. Spirits use familiar relationships in an effort to establish credibility and compassion. They appear as someone we have known or been related to as we are far more likely to believe someone we knew than we are a perfect stranger. The emotional ties between an individual and the departed loved one is often potent enough to make many disbelieve God's Word and embrace a belief contradictory to the Christian faith.

8. Why is that spirits always represent themselves as people or individuals who can readily be tied to a property, home, or location? How is it that a "human spirit" never shows up somewhere that cannot be readily tied to that location?

The truth is:

Because demonic spirits are trying to appear as a human spirit, they most often will represent themselves as individuals who could have lived or died at a given location. For instance, a "civil war era home" is always being haunted by a civil war veteran or soldier, etc. Has no one else ever died in that location during any other era or time period? It is so much easier to represent itself as someone who can easily and readily be identified as possibly having lived or died at that location. do people never die tragic or horrible deaths at locations which never exhibit any signs of haunting or a spiritual presence? When it is known that a woman died at a given location by jumping out a window, it always happens that a "ghost" will appear of that woman. But why don't ALL people who die such tragic or horrible deaths wind up becoming "earth bound spirits" or "ghosts?" The laws of the spirit world would then seem to be VERY sporadic and inconsistent. What laws in nature are ever so inconsistent and unreliable?

9. Why is it that EVP (Electronic Voice Detection) seldom captures more than a sound that can be interpreted any way the listener chooses to interpret it?

The truth is:

In my many years of experience in this area of ministry, I have found that demonic spirits most often do not want their activity captured on film or voice recorders. Many devices will not work at all properly when there is a spiritual presence. EVP's usually "pick up" some anomaly that cannot be readily and clearly deciphered. The people listening often translate what they hear completely differently than what I would perceive I am hearing. This whole area of paranormal research is a joke. Most often what is heard is completely up to the researcher's opinions as to what is being heard And more often than not, a clear, full statement or sentence is never recorded, but rather only a small snippet supposedly contain words or a phrase. Why wouldn't an EVP pick up a spirit saying "I am..." rather than "You die?" They never seem to pick up mundane parts of a sentence or phrase, but instead almost always seem to capture important parts of what was being said. Do we believe it is POSSIBLE to record a demonic voice? Absolutely. But it is rare and the results claimed by many are false and unsubstantiated.

10. Why do "ghosts" often appear as individuals with illness, amputations, or disabilities? Do physical limitations and disabilities carry over into the next life?

The truth is:

We do not carry our ailments and disabilities into the world to come. They are part of this physical existence. An actual human spirit would never appear as a ghost of a blind, one legged, retarded boy. The spirit within that child would be free of all these ailments and disabilities. What a horrendous thought that an individual could walk this world, as a disembodied spirit, having all the same limitations and illnesses we had during this life.
